Cruelty Investigations The majority of complaints regarding alleged neglect and abuse are handled by Jefferson County Animal Control. The Animal Control Officers are the professional individuals who take to heart, the mistreatment of animals. They can be reached at 636-797-5577 M-F, 9:00 AM - 4:30 PM, with the exception of recognized holidays. The Jefferson County Humane Society will respond to complaints regarding alleged neglect and abuse. 911 is available for callers to report animal emergencies.
